Design Station
Design Museum Den Bosch.
The first thing you’ll notice in the lobby of Design Museum Den Bosch is 'Het OntwerpStation'.
An inviting, eye-catching spot where visitors can make, explore, and experiment. Through playful, hands-on activities, you discover that everything around us is designed.
We developed these movable furniture pieces in collaboration with Studio Sociaal Centraal, shaping them as flexible platforms for a wide range of interactive activities.
At one station you can play a game using a special Xbox controller designed for people with physical disabilities. At another one, you can take a seat and quietly experience the Somnox sleep robot.

Within the framework of these diverse activities, we designed 'Het OntwerpStation' with a focus on form, colour, material, and functionality. Thanks to the varied and contrasting combinations, each station feels like its own little island, inviting visitors to explore and play.
By combining and scaling up the rounded base shapes, 'Het OntwerpStation' can be placed as one cohesive installation in the centre of the lobby or spread out across the space as five separate stations.
A closer look at the design and detailing reveals how the displays seem to grow organically from the colorful blocks. The friendly, rounded shapes embrace and frame the objects such as a TV, the Xbox controller, or a set of bingo cards. They hold the objects without enclosing them, drawing your attention directly to what’s there to be discovered.
The design quite literally gives these objects a stage.
